History of The People Bridge Charitable Foundation
Since its inception in 1998, The People Bridge Charitable Foundation has funded over 100 projects in over twenty countries around the world, and helped countless people. Projects have included breakfast clubs for underprivileged children in Canada; nursery schools with a nutritional content for orphans in India and Africa; nutritional instruction and medical screening for tuberculosis, treatment for children with cleft palate, and deafness prevention for young children in India.
Under the direction of a new Board of Directors in 2010, The People Bridge Charitable Foundation plans to continue this good work and make a difference in the lives of the people of the world. The following provides an overview of completed projects since 2010.
TANZANIA – Wonder Welders, Msasani, Dar es Salaam (start 2010 completed 2012)
In 2010 we provided funding to further expand their glass project in order to increase employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and this was successfully completed.
In February 2012 we agreed on the revisions to be included in phase 2 of the project, which included enhancements to the bead jewelry production facilities and further training of the workers in the bead section of the workshop for the design and quality of the jewelry being produced. This was completed and a final report received in December 2012.
Project Synopsis: Wonder Welders began in 2005 to train poor and disabled Tanzanians in carpentry and glass and to identify opportunities to generate ongoing income within the community. With good success over the years in positively changing the lives of over 40 disabled people, additional support is needed to expand the development work to support more individuals. With the help of People Bridge, Wonder Welders will continue to grow and inspire these disabled workers and trainers to make a considerable life-changing impact on the Region of Msasani, Dar es Salaam.
INDIA – J. WATUMULL GLOBAL HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTRE, Mt. Abu Rajasthan (start 2011 completed 2011)
